Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The VDC Specialist is responsible for carrying out assigned pre-construction tasks effectively and
efficiently, while adhering to company standards.
A VDC Specialist I is responsible for the below activities:
• Identifies model related issues to the project team
• Maintains regular contact with their project team
• Performs other duties as assigned by management
A VDC Specialist II is responsible for VDC Specialist I activities and the below items:
• Produces, edits and coordinates 3D object-oriented models
• Attends and participates in virtual construction, clash detection and coordination meetings
• Seeks ways to infuse quality and labor savings into overall Building Information Modeling (BIM)
efforts
• Assists in developing new ways to utilize model-based information in various phases of projects
• Has a basic knowledge of BIM software, 3D design, and construction documents
A VDC Specialist III is responsible for VDC Specialist I and II activities and the below items:
• Assists in the development of the company's BIM related goals, initiatives, and standards
• Develops and maintains professional relationships with designers, owners, and subcontractors
• Has an intermediate knowledge of BIM software, 3D design, and construction documents
• Has a basic knowledge of electrical construction
A VDC Specialist IV is responsible for VDC Specialist I, II and III activities and the below items:
• Has an advanced knowledge of BIM software, 3D design, and construction documents
• Has an intermediate knowledge of electrical construction
• Strategizes and identifies project modeling requirements
• Performs additional team development duties as assigned by management
Qualifications, Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
• Experience with interoffice collaboration
• Possesses problem-solving ability and a strong sense of urgency
• Demonstrates organizational and communication skills
• Demonstrates competency modeling from a 2D document to produce a 3D model
• Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Demonstrates knowledge of and has experience in reading floor plans, sections and
elevations as well as software such as BIM360, Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel and Outlook,
Navisworks, Revit, and file sharing platforms – Required for VDC II and higher
Preferred construction experience
• Preferred Associate’s degree in Computer Aided Drafting and Design or similar
Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone and video calls
• Ability to sit for long periods of time
• Must be able to stand, bend, lift and move intermittently
• Ability to withstand extended exposure to a computer monitor, which may at times be straining on
the eyes
• Ability to carry up to 20 pounds
• Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the physical demands
Travel Demands:
• Travel is primarily local during the business day
• Some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected
