SiteWorker is seeking a Utilities Engineer specializing in Electrical Systems and Power

Distribution. This role provides technical guidance for the operation, maintenance, improvement,

and expansion of a microgrid system. The Utilities Engineer will be the senior technical resource

for overall electrical generation and power distribution systems.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

● Develop and maintain a long-term strategic master plan for the operations, maintenance,

hardening, and expansion of the electrical distribution system to meet new customer

demands and increased electrification of utility assets.

● Serve as the lead technical resource for medium voltage (600V to 34.5KV) distribution

equipment, substations, transformers, switchgear, cable, motors, and turbine generators.

● Provide technical support for low voltage (110V to 600V) distribution equipment,

including variable frequency drives and motors.

● Conduct power systems analysis, including load flow, voltage drop, short circuit studies,

equipment protection and coordination, and arc flash studies. Experience with SKM

Power Tools for Windows is preferred.

● Manage projects related to electrical systems, including overseeing contract project

engineers and construction contractors.

● Support day-to-day operations and maintenance of low and medium voltage systems.

● Coordinate technical requirements for market participation as a Behind the Meter Net

Generator.

● Collaborate with the local utility to coordinate operations and adjustments to the utility

interconnect.

● Provide Electrical Engineering support for building systems, including HVAC, reliable

power, lighting, IT cabling, security systems, fire alarms, and UPS systems.

● Offer technical guidance to the EHS team regarding electrical safety compliance with

applicable NFPA standards.


Qualifications:

● Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.


● Experience: 7 to 10 years of related experience in electrical engineering, utilities,

construction, and design of power plants, cogeneration, power distribution, or other

multi-disciplinary, energy-intensive industrial processes.

● Experience in manufacturing/industrial sites, power generation, power distribution, utility

interconnects, and/or business development is preferred.

● Certifications/Licenses: New York State PE License is highly desirable.


Skills/Competencies:

● Proven project management experience in capital or capitalized maintenance projects.

● Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective collaboration across

technical support, operations, and maintenance teams.

● Ability to work effectively with external engineers, contractors, and vendors.

● Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Excel and Teams.

● Experience with Bluebeam Revu, Navisworks, AutoDesk/AutoCAD, and Maximo is

preferred.

● Familiarity with SKM Systems Analysis software for Power Systems and Arc Flash is a

plus.

● In-depth technical knowledge of Low (110V to 600V) and Medium (600V to 34.5KV)

voltage systems, equipment, and metering.

● Strategic planning capability with a results-driven, self-starter attitude.

● Excellent problem-solving abilities, including data collection, fact-finding, and conclusion

drawing.

● Commitment to high standards of utility service reliability and customer service.

● Willingness to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime and respond to off-hour

emergency support calls.


Work Environment:

● Industrial and office environments.

● Occasional work in dirty and noisy areas is required.
