Key Responsibilities:
● Perform structural welds on carbon steel piles as part of the remediation process.
● Weld on hot dip galvanized material using approved methods to ensure structural integrity.
● Ensure all welding is performed in compliance with AWS D1.1 standards.
● Prepare and maintain work areas, including setting up welding blankets to protect nearby solar panels from spatter damage.
● Use a welding hood during active welding; wear a hard hat at all other times per site safety requirements.
● Follow all site safety policies, including the use of PPE and situational awareness around energized equipment and solar infrastructure.
● Collaborate with site leads and mechanical crews to execute work efficiently and accurately.
Requirements:
● Valid AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Certification
● Proven experience welding carbon steel in a structural setting
● Familiarity with hot dip galvanized materials and outdoor construction environments
● Required PPE: Welding hood, Hard hat, Welding blanket
Note: Welding hood may be used in place of a hard hat only during active welding operations. A welding blanket should be kept readily available for use near panel arrays.
● Ability to read basic construction drawings or instructions related to remediation scope
● Strong attention to detail and commitment to job site safety
Preferred Qualifications:
● Experience on solar construction or remediation projects
● OSHA 10 or 30 certification
Work Environment:
This role is 100% field-based on an active solar farm. The work involves exposure to the elements and may require walking over uneven terrain. Safety, speed, and precision are critical to success in this role.
