job.description: The position assists in the outdoor installation of residential and commercial PV systems, ranging from 5kW to 200kW. The Solar Electrician works closely with our field crews to install DC and AC wiring and to interconnect the systems to the utility grid. No overnight travel - all work is in Central Ohio.
Job duties:
- Review electrical drawings and site-specific design to prepare for construction
- Install DC wiring, junction boxes, conduit, inverters, combiner boxes, disconnects, and AC wiring
- Interconnect systems by way of back feed breakers and line side taps
- Troubleshoot new and existing systems
- Perform additional electric work, such as installation of subpanels or replacement of main service panels
- Ensure compliance with National Electric Code and jurisdictional requirements
- Ensure installations are of high quality and consistent with industry standards
Qualifications:
- Ability to lift in excess of 60 lbs.
- Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, including pitched roofs, as well as, confined spaces, such as attics and crawlspaces
- Safety conscious - must be comfortable enforcing safety rules with everyone, including supervisors, customers, and co-workers
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety regulations, operation and maintenance instructions, blueprints and schematic drawings, and procedure manuals
- Must hold valid driver’s license with clean driving record and pass a criminal background check
- Solar training and/or electrical construction experience is a plus
