job.description:

We are seeking licensed Journeyman Electricians for contract positions on commercial and residential construction projects across Kansas City, KS and Manhattan, KS. Initial engagements are project-based, running 4 weeks or longer, with top performers eligible for conversion to direct hire. Candidates must hold the applicable journeyman-level electrical credential for the jurisdiction(s) in which they will work — see the licensing table below for jurisdiction-specific requirements. Journeymen will perform all phases of commercial and residential electrical installation, work independently within the scope authorized by their license, and may supervise apprentice-level crew members under direction of a Master Electrician or Electrical Contractor.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

•      Perform all phases of electrical rough-in and trim on commercial and residential projects independently and within licensed scope

•      Install, bend, and support EMT, rigid (GRC), IMC, and PVC conduit systems; execute offsets, saddles, 3-point and 4-point bends using hand and hydraulic benders

•      Pull, terminate, and label wire and cable through conduit systems; ensure proper fill ratios and NEC-compliant installation

•      Install and terminate panels, subpanels, breakers, and service equipment per one-line diagrams and panel schedules

•      Install lighting fixtures, switches, receptacles, GFCI/AFCI devices, and specialty equipment per drawings and specifications

•      Read and interpret electrical construction drawings including one-line diagrams, riser diagrams, panel schedules, and detail sheets without supervision

•      Perform layout and establish conduit runs, device locations, and panel placement from electrical drawings

•      Supervise and direct apprentice electricians assigned to your crew; ensure work quality, code compliance, and safe practices

•      Perform and verify self-inspection of completed work prior to rough-in and trim inspections; coordinate AHJ inspection readiness

•      Identify and communicate RFIs, code conflicts, and drawing discrepancies to foreman or project management

•      Maintain a clean, organized, and OSHA-compliant work area; lead by example on site safety and housekeeping

•      Participate in daily toolbox talks and site safety meetings; enforce OSHA 29 CFR 1926 electrical standards and site-specific safety plans

•      Support material takeoffs, staging, and waste reduction as directed by foreman or superintendent

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

•      Manhattan, KS (Riley County): Journeyman Electrician license issued by City of Manhattan Risk Reduction Office — ICC KGH exam passed with 75% or better

•      Minimum 4–5 years of verifiable commercial or residential electrical field experience

•      Expert proficiency reading electrical construction drawings: one-lines, panel schedules, riser diagrams, lighting and power plans

•      Full command of NEC code requirements as adopted and enforced in Kansas jurisdictions

•      Mastery of conduit systems — EMT, rigid, IMC, PVC — including layout, bending, and support installation

•      Demonstrated ability to work independently and supervise apprentice-level crew members

•      Valid driver's license; reliable transportation to job site

•      Ability to lift 50+ lbs, work at heights, and sustain physical demands across full shifts in varying conditions

•      Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening

Preferred:

•      Dual licensure or active pursuit of credentials in both Wyandotte County and Manhattan/Riley County jurisdictions
