job.description: We are seeking skilled and safety-focused Heavy Highway Carpenters to join our construction team in Fargo, ND. This role involves working on large-scale infrastructure projects, including bridges, aqueducts, and flood diversion structures. The ideal candidate will have experience in heavy civil construction and a commitment to quality workmanship.
Key Responsibilities
- Construct, erect, install, and repair structures and forms conforming to federal, state, and local codes.
- Study plans, sketches, and specifications to determine materials required and dimensions of structures to be fabricated.
- Prepare layouts and shape materials to prescribed measurements.
- Assemble cut and shaped materials and fasten them together as needed.
- Erect framework for structures and construct forms and chutes for pouring concrete.
- Erect scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level.
- Weld metal parts to steel structural members as required.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure timely and quality completion of tasks.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all safety protocols.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in heavy highway carpentry.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction documents and blueprints.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and at heights.
- Strong understanding of safety regulations and procedures.
- Willingness to work 40 or more hours per week and travel within the state as needed.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with formwork systems and concrete pouring techniques.
- Familiarity with the use of power tools and heavy equipment.
- Ability to lead or mentor junior carpenters.
