We’re looking for a Fiber Splicer to join our growing Outside Plant team. The Fiber Splicer is responsible for the installation, splicing, and testing of fiber optic cable to support the delivery of high-speed internet and communication services to residential customers. This role plays a critical part in the construction and activation of Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) networks. The Fiber Splicer must be skilled in handling single-mode and multi-mode fiber and conducting OTDR and power meter testing to ensure high-performance connections. The position requires both field and occasional indoor work, including working in handholes, pedestals, enclosures, and central offices or cabinets. A strong understanding of industry safety standards, construction drawings, and network documentation is essential.
Responsibilities
● Perform prep and fusion of single-mode or multi-mode fiber optic cables.
● Place and test jumpers in communication cabinets.
● Properly dress aerial and underground cabling and place mid-sheath splices & butt splices.
● Test and troubleshoot fiber using an OTDR, optical power meter, fiber identifier and scope.
● Perform installation and testing of fiber cross connects.
● Work flexible hours as needed and on-call rotation which may include nights and weekends.
● Work with Project Manager, Construction Manager and Fiber Engineer to perform splicing as directed
. Train on and safely operate bucket truck with supervision,
● Maintain a positive attitude and strong work ethic that can provide high productivity with minimal supervision.

Required Qualifications
● 1-2 years of experience in fiber splicing (Preferred)
● Proficient with construction equipment, hand tools, fusion splicer, OTDR, fiber identifiers and scope
● Ability to drive company vehicles in a safe and responsible manner
● Valid Driver’s License and ability to pass an MVR screen
● Strong understanding of proper safety construction practices
● High school diploma/GED

Travel schedules may be predictable or variable depending on the needs of the project and may take short trips, longer trips, or extended stays depending on the needs of the project. A company vehicle is provided.

● This position requires the ability to crouch and stand in undefined positions in narrow spaces to operate machinery or manufacturing machines.
