The Fencing Foreman is responsible for overseeing the installation of perimeter fencing on a utility-scale solar project. This role involves leading a crew of fencing laborers, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications and timelines. The Fencing Foreman will coordinate with site management and other trades to maintain schedule alignment and uphold quality standards.

 


Key Responsibilities:

●    Supervise and direct daily activities of the fencing crew.

●    Read and interpret site plans, fencing layouts, and specifications.

●    Ensure accurate layout and alignment of fencing according to boundaries and drawings.

●    Operate and direct use of equipment such as post drivers, augers, and skid steers.

●    Oversee installation of fence posts, chain link fabric, barbed wire, gates, and other materials.

●    Perform quality checks on completed work and ensure compliance with safety standards.

●    Maintain inventory of fencing materials and tools; coordinate with procurement or logistics for resupply.

●    Train and mentor crew members on best practices and safety procedures.

●    Report daily progress, issues, and incidents to the Site Superintendent or Project Manager.

●    Communicate and coordinate with other trades to avoid schedule conflicts or access issues.

●    Enforce site-specific safety rules and OSHA regulations.

 


Qualifications:

●    Minimum 3–5 years of fencing experience, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.

●    Prior experience on utility-scale solar or large-scale civil construction projects preferred.

●    Proficient in operating fencing equipment and tools.

●    Ability to read construction drawings and fencing layouts.

●    Strong leadership and communication skills.

●    Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and enforcement.

●    Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and terrain.

●    Valid driver’s license; reliable transportation required.

 


Physical Requirements:

●    Ability to lift up to 75 lbs regularly.

●    Standing, walking, bending, and working on uneven ground for extended periods.

●    Willingness to work long hours, weekends, or overtime as needed by the project schedule.
