Electrical & Instrument Technician III

What You'll Do:

·        Perform routine plant electrical/control maintenance functions including, but not limited to motors, MCCs, relays, breakers, electrical disconnects of rotating machinery, UPS/battery systems, and all electrical hand tools

·        Perform emergency plant electrical/control troubleshooting on plant equipment. 

·        Performs preventive and repair maintenance work tasks on plant equipment 

·        Conduct predictive maintenance as assigned, i.e. vibration analysis, thermography, lube oil sampling for analysis, component inspections

·        Installs, tests, calibrates, tunes, programs, repairs and troubleshoots pneumatic, electronic-powered equipment, low/medium voltage, analog and digital process control loop hardware

·        Install electrical conduit and pneumatic air tubing

·        Maintain all plant electrical/control equipment to the highest possible standard to maximize plant availability, reliability, efficiency, and profitability

·        Must be able to read, interpret and work with service manuals, blueprints, sketches, technical manuals, control wire diagrams and other written instructions to evaluate all electrical maintenance and logic in accordance with local and national codes

·        Analyze electrical problems and take appropriate action to correct and advise supervisor when outside assistance from vendors, engineering contractors, and/or consultants is necessary.   

·        Maintain records of readings, test results, and data on all assigned equipment

·        Track performance history and assess condition (predictive maintenance) of plant electrical equipment

·        Maintain and review such records and report findings as required

·        Recommend equipment operating and/or maintenance changes, which will enhance unit operation and equipment availability

·        Utilize a CMMS for writing and completing work orders with notes

·        Coordinate daily work activities and equipment status with other Plant employees

·        Will be assigned to work in areas designated by Supervisor and/or Management Team and will perform duties sometimes not related to Technician work

·        Perform the housekeeping functions and equipment cleaning necessary to maintain the Plant in a clean and neat condition

·        Assist in performing root cause failure analysis techniques when solving plant abnormalities and equipment failures

·        Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills.

·        Comply with all Plant & ENGIE safety programs and ensure every team member complies with all safety procedures

·        Accountable to immediate supervisor for ensuring adherence to the Plant’s Safety and Environmental Programs, taking all reasonable precautions to prevent incidents of noncompliance, shall immediately report any known or suspected violations to your Supervisor and/or Management Personnel

·        Perform and document pre-job hazard assessment and provide pre-job briefs as needed

·        Assist with routine maintenance training and equipment operation training of other site employees

·        Participate in ongoing training to maintain and enhance skills required to perform duties and assist in the training of others

·        Carries out other duties as assigned  

 

What You Bring:

·        High School Degree or GED equivalent required

o   Trade/Vocational School and/or Military training preferred

·        4+ years’ relevant experience and/or training; licenses, endorsements or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required

·        2+ years of that experience in electrical, electronic, and pneumatic instrumentation (steam/electrical generation or chilled water plant preferred) or graduation from a two-year electrical or instrumentation and control program is required

·        Experience in maintenance of chiller and/or turbine controls preferred. 

·        Experience working with a CMMS (Computer Maintenance Management System) preferred.

·        Required to have a valid driver's license.  

·        Required to have a personal phone for emergency callout or oncall.

·        Required to be on call as needed and, or deemed necessary by Supervisor or ENGIE Management. 

·        Must have some troubleshooting and maintenance skills or the ability to gain them in PLCs, Supervisor Control Systems, medium voltage electricity and related control systems.   

·        Strong computer background on PCs, with pneumatics experience preferred

·        For this position, you must have evidence of right to work in the U.S. There is no employer sponsorship of U.S. residency or work authorization with this role.

·        Must be physically capable to hear and understand audible alarms, detect changes in noise levels of rotating equipment and portable radio communication. 

·        Capable of frequently standing; walking; balancing; sitting; climbing (ladders, stairs, ramps, catwalks and the like as required); kneeling; pushing; pulling; lifting (min. 50 lbs). 

·        Capable of performing repetitive motions as required. 

·        Required to have eyesight corrected at 20/40 to accurately read and interpret such as but not limited to instruments, gauges, and manuals. 

·        Must be physically capable of entering and working in a confined space (crawl spaces, shafts, small enclosed areas, pipes and the like) as required. 

·        Must be physically capable of wearing protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to half and full-face respirators, fall protection equipment, hardhat, safety shoes, safety glasses, etc. 

·        Working Environment: Indoors – 90% Outdoors – 10% 

·        While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time

·        The noise level is usually moderate to high
