job.description: The Helper works as part of a team and follows the instructions of the Solar Electrician, Install Lead. The Helper must abide by all company safety regulations, be adaptable, a good communicator, and comfortable working with a team and with homeowners. They need to be familiar with standard photovoltaic rules and guidelines, know how to follow site plans and ensure a clean job site.
Electrical Install Helper Responsibilities
- Installs PV, battery and other associated systems according to engineering designs, permits and electrical code
- Follows of all company safety guidelines
- Ensures installation meets all company quality requirements
- Submit timely reports through Sunnova software showing project progress, quality and completion
- Collaborates closely with other team members to ensure an efficient installation
- Utilizes knowledge, skills, and testing equipment to commission systems and evaluate system issues
- Identifies solutions to resolve technical design problems
- Manages vehicle-material stock and equipment inventory
- Provides training to customers about system operation and maintenance
Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma (or GED)
- 3+ years’ experience in residential construction
- Current, valid Driver’s license with acceptable Motor Vehicle Report
- Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing English
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 30 Certified
- 1 + years’ experience in the solar industry.
- Prior experience working on residential rooftops
- Bilingual, English and Spanish
Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Organized and maintains a professional appearance
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Reads and interprets blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams
Working Conditions
- Location varies with job site
- Estimated overnight 10% travel time
- Driving required; needs valid Driver's license with acceptable Motor Vehicle Record
- Must be willing to travel for some projects depending on jobsite
Physical Requirements
- Long hours spent outside on residential rooftops, driving to customer residences, some ground and rooftop work.
- Various weather conditions include cold and snowy, hot and humid, and everything in between; must be comfortable working in different environments
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs; assistance may be provided for oversized items
- Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for up to 8 hours at a time
- Work postures include reaching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, squatting, crawling, bending, twisting, climbing, and handling objects above/below the shoulder
