The Concrete Structures Foreman actively participates in work related to structures construction projects, supervises the field crew and subcontractors, and is responsible for the completion of all projects in a safe and timely manner while utilizing the highest quality of workmanship.
Responsibilities
• Maintain a dedication to safety by modeling, providing education, and enforcing safe work practices.
• Utilize proper crew size and equipment to achieve cost-effective production.
• Schedule materials in a timely fashion to avoid impacting work activities.
• Participate in weekly look-ahead schedule meetings and utilize them to complete work effectively.
• Understand budgets, costs, contract drawings, and specifications to properly construct projects.
• Complete each work activity in its entirety prior to moving to another; maintain a clean and orderly work area.
• Recognize and document extra work and notify supervisor.
• Properly care for and utilize company-owned equipment.
• Manage outside rental equipment to minimize external costs.
• Maintain and submit daily paperwork in an organized and timely fashion (e.g., timesheets, material tickets, daily diary).
• Work productively with other foremen and employees.
• Analyze work activities for potential safety concerns (e.g., fall protection, excavation support).
• Ensure proper safety equipment is available and used by all personnel.
• Communicate effectively with contractors or subcontractors to coordinate work and goals.
Experience/Qualifications
• 5+ years of experience as a Foreman, with structures experience required.
• Highly knowledgeable in bridge construction, structural concrete, forming, placing concrete, and finishing.
• Experience managing crews of 6 or more employees.
• Ability to read and understand schedules, plans, and specifications.
• Experience with EFCO forming systems is required.
•Minimum of 3 years of previous Concrete Foreman experience.
• Strong leadership and communication skills to oversee work and instruct crews.
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions related to the work performed.
• Ability to prepare production reports, timesheets, equipment logs, inspection reports, and update project files.
• Valid Driver’s License required.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
• Regular exposure to outside weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, and loud noise levels.
• Occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles, or vibration.
• Must be able to wear required protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, safety boots, vest).
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs, traverse irregular and steep terrain, and bend/stoop as required.
• Must be able to respond quickly to sounds and communicate information effectively
