An Operator should possess a fundamental understanding of construction and be able to operate different construction equipment and tools.

Duties and Responsibilities:

•    Setup, preparation, and cleanup of construction sites.

•    Install and maintain underground and aerial telecommunications cabling.

•    Ability to safely operate a certain piece of equipment such as plow, backhoe, bulldozer, excavator, or skid steer.

•    Maintain visual and audible contact with other crew members and all moving or stationary persons/vehicles/objects to ensure safe coordination of movement.

•    Wash/clean, grease, oil, and do daily maintenance of equipment.

•    Use hand tools to dig around existing utilities when necessary.

•    Load and unload tools, materials, and equipment.

•    Maintain safe working habits/conditions according to all regulations, procedures, and policies.

•    Report any equipment repairs needed to Foreman or Supervisor.

•    Light repair and maintenance of tools and equipment.

•    Drive vehicles to and from job sites, which may include the use of tractor/trailers.

•    Safety training as required by the position.

•    Paperwork filing and maintenance as needed.

•    Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications and Eligibility Requirements:

•    Must have a valid driver’s license or be willing to obtain one.

•    Valid DOT Health Card.

•    Ability to communicate and listen effectively with customers, employees, etc.

•    Able to work in all weather conditions.

•    Basic knowledge of and ability to operate hand tools, equipment, and vehicles in a safe manner.

Preferred Skills:

•    Class A Driver’s License (CDL).

•    Experience in telecommunications or utilities infrastructure, including the ability to read and understand prints and utility maps.

Physical Demands:

•    Must be able to endure activity involved with the job, which may include prolonged and repeated lifting, bending, crouching, climbing, holding, reaching, digging, standing, sitting, and walking.

•    Must be able to work in an outdoor environment and is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.

•    Able to lift up to 75 pounds.
