We are hiring an Apprentice Electrician to support electrical work on a large-scale agrivoltaic solar project, which combines solar energy generation with agricultural land use. The apprentice will work under the direct supervision of licensed journeymen and foremen to learn and assist in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical and photovoltaic (PV) systems while following all safety and code requirements.
● Assist with the installation of electrical components including conduit, wire, combiner boxes, inverters, and grounding systems.
○ MC4 cables
○ Inverters, wiring, and panels
○ Combiner boxes
○ Terminations, relay, and communications
○ Switches, circuit breakers, CTs, PTs, transformer installations
○ Perform AC/DC wiring, inverter hookups, grounding, and system testing
○ Conduct inspections, testing, and quality checks on installed systems
● Bend conduit, pull, route, and label wire and cable per project specifications and NEC guidelines.
● Operate hand tools, power tools, and material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
● Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring proper storage and handling of tools and materials.
● Learn and follow all relevant codes, safety practices, and work procedures related to utility-scale PV systems.
● Support journeyman electricians with layout, measurements, and material preparation.
● Assist with testing, inspections, and commissioning tasks as directed.
● Work respectfully around agricultural elements including fencing, irrigation lines, livestock areas, and vegetation.
● Participate in daily safety meetings and adhere to all OSHA and site-specific safety protocols.
● Maintain daily progress logs or work reports as requested.
● 1-3 years of relevant electrical or solar installation experience.
● Basic knowledge of electrical tools and construction practices.
● Enrollment in a registered electrical apprenticeship program or eligibility to enroll.
● Strong work ethic and willingness to learn from licensed professionals.
● Comfortable working on ladders, at heights, and in various outdoor conditions.
● Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical labor for extended periods.
● Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license.
● OSHA 10 Certification
● Previous experience on solar or construction sites
● Interest or experience in agricultural environments
● Basic understanding of NEC or solar-specific codes and terminology
