We are seeking a skilled Aerial Strand & Fiber Lineman to perform critical aerial work involving the installation, remediation, and assessment of fiber optic infrastructure. This position combines traditional lineman responsibilities with specialized tasks related to strand placement, fiber lashing, cable relocations, and quality assurance on new and existing aerial plant. The ideal candidate is safety-driven, detail-oriented, and highly experienced in high and low-density aerial fiber environments.
● Install aerial strand and fiber cable on poles and within right-of-ways using lasher machines, hand tools, and bucket trucks or climbing gear.
● Tension and secure strand to poles and lash fiber cables per spec (loose or tight lashing depending on route).
● Set anchors and guy wires as required to stabilize new strand.
● Install down-guys, bonds, and grounding per NESC and project standards.
● Assess and correct legacy aerial routes for clearance issues, unsafe slack loops, broken lashings, improperly tensioned strand, or non-compliance with pole owner standards.
● Re-lash fiber bundles or remove/replace strand as needed for upgrades or pole change-outs.
● Document and photo-log remediation efforts and provide as-built updates or punchlist closure reports.
● Work closely with QC teams and inspectors to meet audit compliance.
● Climb poles or operate aerial lift trucks to access work locations.
● Maintain and operate tools, lashers, hoists, pullers, and PPE to jobsite safety standards.
● Interpret aerial prints, maps, work orders, and production sheets accurately.
● Ensure traffic control and pedestrian safety around job sites.
● Communicate with ground crews, engineers, supervisors, and customers effectively.
● Minimum 2–4 years of aerial lineman experience with a focus on strand and fiber optic systems.
● Proficient in strand placement, lasher operation, and aerial fiber installations.
● Comfortable working at heights with pole climbing gear or bucket trucks.
● Ability to troubleshoot and correct pre-existing issues in legacy plant or failed audits.
● Valid Driver’s License required
○ Class B CDL preferred
● Strong understanding of NESC standards, pole owner requirements, and local permitting guidelines.
● Pole Climbing Certification
● Bucket Truck Certification
● OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
● CPR / First Aid
● Aerial Fiber QC experience (preferred but not required)
● Lift up to 75 lbs, climb poles, operate aerial equipment, and work in outdoor environments (hot, cold, or inclement weather).
● Stand, kneel, and crouch for extended periods; ability to travel and work extended hours when required.
This role involves working near energized lines and at heights. All candidates must pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening. Safety training is provided and strictly enforced.
